Overview of LeadingAge RI (formerly RIAFSA)

Effective January 2011, the Rhode Island Association of Facilities and Services for the Aging (RIAFSA) will officially be known as LeadingAge RI. This new name reinforces our commitment as not-for-profit organizations to not only providing services and care, but also to leading the charge for change in the way our state and country views aging. In addition, the new name underscores our connection to our national organization LeadingAge (formerly AAHSA) which, along with many state affiliates, has changed its name. The name is the result of intense branding sessions and focus groups which were conducted over a period of many months by the national association.

We were founded in 1989 as a membership organization of not-for-profit providers of aging services. Our diverse membership includes not-for-profit nursing homes, assisted living residences, and senior housing providers, as well as adult day health services.

Every day, our members help thousands of older Rhode Islanders and their families by providing the services that individuals need, when they need them, in the place they call home. We are committed to maximizing their health and well-being by providing quality care.

Given the wide range of supports and services provided by LeadingAge RI members, we represent a constellation of care for older Rhode Islanders and their families. If you are in need of long term care, our members stand ready to provide quality and compassionate care.
